The violence experienced by teenagers in the school setting, social institutions, and children's courts


This research project aims: in the school setting 1) To know the meaning to students from urban public high school of the city of Alfenas, state of Minas Gerais, of school violence, for the purpose of discussing the issue with these teenagers and encourage them to develop strategies for prevention and minimization of violence from their experiences. 2) To analyze the violence suffered and/or practiced by teenagers in the school setting correlating it with individual and environmental risk factors aimed at promoting future actions of the health of adolescents in the school setting (Recife-PE, Brazil). 3) To investigate and analyze the meaning of violence presented in dating relationships for teens in the school setting in the city of Ribeirão Preto, state of São Paulo, Brazil and in the city of Recife, state of Pernambuco, Brazil. In social care institutions 1) To investigate and analyze the violence experienced by adolescents assisted in social care services in the city of Ribeirão Preto, and in the institutions of the third sector in the city of Uberaba, state of Minas Gerais. In the children's courts 1) To investigate and analyze the meaning of the violence experienced by adolescents victims of intrafamily sexual violence during their inquiry in the Justice System of Recife and Ribeirão Preto. Methodology: it was choose the articulation between qualitative and quantitative methodologies according to Minayo and Sanches (1993) observe the complementarily of both in the search for a broader knowledge of different aspects of one reality. Research techniques in qualitative research: free observation, semi-structured interviews, official documents, focal group, field diary. Regarding statistics data, the instruments were used: questionnaires with closed and open questions. Qualitative data analysis proposed by Bardin (2002), which consists in identifying meaning units which make up a communication whose presence has an analytical meaningful; hermeneutic dialectic method, which "presents itself as a way of thinking, as a way of encounter between the social sciences and philosophy "(Minayo, 2006, p.218). The analysis of quantitative data: Epi Info and the chi-square test. Numerical variables are described as mean and standard deviation and accompanied through the Mann-Whitney test. (AU)
