Abstract

Purpose: To compare the visual performance by multifocal intraocular lenses Crystalens and Restor and monofocal SN60WF, and investigate pre-operative parameters that might help to predict outcomes. Methods: Prospective, randomized, open label trial, including 60 patients (120 eyes) referred for cataract surgery by phacoemulsification, 20 patients (40 eyes) per group (RES: Restor-D1, CRYS-Crystalens, and IQ-SN60WF). Evaluations will be conducted before, 1, 10, 30, 90 days and 1 year after surgery, and include measures of acuity, and mono-and binocular uncorrected near and distance, defocus curve, microperimetry (MAIA -CenterVue), and measuring the ability to recognize letters in low contrast in the central visual field (up to 8 degrees) with Macular Mapping Test. Static and dynamic pupillometry (IScan, Inc.), followed by keratometry, anterior chamber depth, and axial eye length (IOLMaster - Zeiss).Expected Results: To determine the differences between the visual performances of three types of lenses, correlating them with preoperative parameters, which might be eventually used as tools to predict visual outcome with these lenses.
