Abstract

With a high success ratio observed by the use of implants (97%), the development of new alloys and surface treatments has been the main objective in the Implantology research area. Periodontal tissue responses towards these modifications are determinant for implant integration with the human body. The proposition of this study is characterize a new titanium-molybdenum alloy with different surface treatments associated with in vitro evaluation of osteoblasts response. The new alloy targeted to Implantology composed by titanium and 15% molybdenum and its surface modifications by laser irradiation, associated or not by deposition of apatites is being developed at the Chemistry Institute of Araraquara - Univ Estadual Paulista - UNESP. Characterization of topography and physical-chemical composition will be assessed by scanning electron microscopy analysis associated with energy dispersive x-ray detector, atomic fource microscopy, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, focused ion beam, transmission electron microscopy and contact angle. Furthermore, osteoblasts response towards different kinds of implants surfaces will be evaluated by observation of cellular morphology, adhesion, proliferation and cytotoxicity, gene and protein expression of osteogenic markers and mineralized bone-like nodule formation. With the obtained results, it is expected to determine the best application of this kind of alloy in Implantology as well as the proposed surface treatments. (AU)
