Infrastructure improvement of the IMECC library

Abstract

The Library of IMECC, as a part of the Library System of Unicamp (SBU), is located in the main building of IMECC. Its collection consists of books, theses, journals, databases, CDs, tapes, videos, as well as a special collection donated by the late mathematical physicist Mario Schenberg. It accommodates the collection of two institutes: IMECC and IC (Institute of Computing). The two institutes are responsible for a large number of disciplines. IMECC offers 4 undergraduate and 5 graduate courses and IC offers two undergraduate and two graduate courses. In addition to the disciplines taught for these courses, the two institutes also offer a range of course disciplines associated with other Institutes at Unicamp (are as of Exact Sciences and Humanities). Thus, BIMECC supports a large number of researchers and students. Given that the role of the library is to provide information to the user, there must be adequate and necessary infrastructure for this purpose. The improvement in the infrastructure of the library is essential so that users and staff may enjoy quality services that meet their informational needs. This project aims to improve some neuralgic points of existing infrastructure such as library signage improvement, file sliding system expansion, purchase of a digital scanner, reference kiosk reform, purchase of computers and replacement of the locker.
