Adaptation dos laboratories: services of emergency and electrical installations in the Laboratory of Experimental Studies on Genetically Modified Animals

Abstract

The Blood Center of Ribeirão Preto has 2550 m² for research and is divided into two main areas. Area 1: central building and block A, organized in research laboratories, among them a) Molecular Biology Laboratory that conducts studies on gene expression of stem cells and HTLV carriers; b) Flow Cytometry Laboratory that offers support for stem cell research by performing immunophenotypic characterization, and is also responsible for tests of Lymphocyte subpopulations monitoring for HIV patients; c) Cell Culture and Biology Laboratory that conducts research on murine stem cells in studies with animal models; d) Laboratory of Gene Transfer, which performs studies on gene modification of stem cells and on the production of recombinant factors VIII and IX of human coagulation; e) Cell Cloning Laboratory which carries out studies on the transcription characterization of different stem cells populations. The Central Building and Block A also includes the administrative area and technical support. Area 2: Biocentre composed of Cell Therapy Laboratory which conducts research on stem cells and is responsible for clinical studies on the expansion of mesenchymal stem cells for the treatment of patients with GVHD as well as the Cytogenetic Laboratory responsible for the characterization of cytogenetic profile of stem cells in cultures and patients with multiple myeloma. This proposal has the objective to adjust the research area through electrical installations services for the conclusion of the construction of the Laboratory of Experimental Studies on Genetically Modified Animals that will be used for researches developed in the Centre for Cell-based Therapy.
