Abstract
One of concerns in precast concrete industry is to ensure the strength of concrete in the early ages in order to optimize the productivity anticipating tasks like prestress transference and demolding of elements. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct tests in order to provide a technological control of the concrete that is being applied. The main characteristic of non-destructive tests (NDTs) is that they do not damage the sample which is being tested, providing the possibility of repetitions in the same sample in different times and allow the tests are performed in the element in question, rather than the use of specimens. Thus, this work aims to study the application of NDTs to technological control of concrete of precast elements. Two NDTs will be used in this research: Vibration tests (evaluation of resonance frequencies and vibrational modes) and ultra-sound (evaluation of ultrasonic pulse velocity). The work will be divided into two phases, the first being held in the Structures Laboratory where NDTs will be applied in small specimens of concrete to assess the variation of mechanical properties over time and results will be compared with destructive tests. In a second phase, the NDTs will be applied to elements of precast concrete in a manufacturer to be chosen in order to be able to assess the real difficulties encountered in applying each type of NDTs. As a result of this research is hoped to obtain appropriate tests and procedures for reliable correlation for the application of NDTs in precast industry. (AU)
