Abstract

The main purpose of this proposal is the study of the adsorption process of single stranded DNA of Leishmania (Vianna) brasiliensis on gold electrodes. As a result of this study we expect to create the necessary conditions for the production of a new detection protocol of Leishmaniosis through the blood serum as well as the determination of the species that caused the contagion. The study will be based on the determination of the self assembly process of the single stranded DNA modified by a thiol group adsorbed on single crystalline gold electrodes using Scanning Tunneling Microscopy. The hybridization process will be monitored through the use of Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy on roughened gold electrodes. (AU)
