Abstract

Professor Nigel Shrive, from the University of Calgary, is a renowned researcher working in more than one area. He has recognized excellence in structural/civil engineering, specifically in Structural Masonry and Ultra-High Performance Concrete, and bioengineering. We have partnered with the researcher since 2005, including post-doctoral training conducted in Canada in 2006/2007. The visit includes various activities: meeting with participants of the research group in structural masonry (GEPAE/CNPq), meeting with the research group in concrete UFSCar, Lecture at the Engineers Association of San Carlos: "Recent Innovations in Bio-Engineering in Canada", teach the graduate course CIV 269 - Finite Element modeling in the Civil Construction Graduate Program in Construction UFSCar, discussion of ongoing research and submission of papers from previous partnerships, participation in the 15th International Brick and Block Masonry Conference, where he is a member of the Scientific and Organizing Committee and he is scheduled to deliver mini-course "Special Topics in Masonry: Prestressed Masonry Design" and keynote lecture "Recovery and Restoration of Historic Masonry".
