Abstract

Dr. Higginbottom has the post of Professor at the School of Nursing, University of Alberta, located in the city of Edmonton, Canada. During the past 15 years, the researcher has developed research on ethnicity and health, mainly related to the care of minority ethnic communities, women and all who experience marginalization and social injustice.The qualification of the researcher and his intense involvement with research topics related to women's health, maternity, primary care and minority groups, and the bond established with teachers of the University as a supervisor in the Post-Doctoral Program will provide great opportunities for further development in relation to Search the entire community of the School of Nursing of Ribeirão Preto / USP. The following proposed activities: administration of two classes in the discipline Graduate ERM-5713-Women, Culture and Society offered by the Graduate Program in Public Health Nursing Department of Maternal and Child Nursing and Public Health Nursing School of Ribeirão Preto the University of São Paulo (USP-PRSP), entitled: "Perspectives of social and health situation of women in different social contexts" and "Minority Social and motherhood," with a schedule of four hours each; administration of two lectures at USP-EERP denomiadas: "The social relations of gender and the Women's Health: The Contribution of research" and "Cultural Diversity: What does research say on women's health?" With Hours of 3 hours each; ministry full course "Qualitative Research: yesterday, today and tomorrow," of Hours: 12 hours; Visit the Reference Center for Women's Health of Ribeirão Preto - Mater, in order to exchange experiences regarding women's health care; Discussion of research with a view to strengthening joint partnership with the EERP-USP, in order that Dr. Higginbottom includes two research projects in partnership with those responsible for the discipline of Graduate aforementioned. Together with Professor. Dr. Fabiana Villela Mamede, who served the Post-Doctorate at the University of Alberta, Canada in 2010/2011, Prof. Dr. Gina Higginbottom has developed the research "Evaluation of the quality of prenatal care: contribution to reducing maternal mortality "and develops the research project" Aboriginal and Immigrant women's food choices in pregnancy "(Research Project funded by Sponsor: Northern Alberta Clinical Trials and Research Centre - Alberta Health Centre. The collection of data from this study will be held in Edmonton, Canada the months of January and February of this year, and the process of data analysis is scheduled to be held at EERP-USP, since Dr. Gina is an expert in qualitative methodologies and in particular the use of "photovoice" method chosen for this research).Discussion of research projects together with research groups, teachers and students of graduate and undergraduate EERP-USP, in order to allow new international exchanges that are likely to sign the agreement established between the renowned University of Sao Paulo and University of Alberta, as well as collaboration on advances in research and training researchers in this school.
