Abstract
The visit of Prof. Zakrzewski to the Instituto de Física de Sao Carlos, IFSC/USP, will be very important to bring together two different approaches to the same physical and mathematical problems, namely the study of solitons and integrable theories. Prof. Zakrzewski is an expert on the study of topological solitons in several areas of Physics using analytical and numerical methods. Our research activities at IFSC/USP has involved the study of solitons and integrable theories using algebraic and geometrical methods, including a generalization of the zero curvature condition to dimensions higher than two. During his visit we will work in collaboration on models of the Skyrme and Skyrme-Faddeev types which are relevant to the low energy (strong coupling) regime of gauge theories. (AU)
