Active control and energy harvesting using smart materials

Abstract

There are several aims for the visit during 2010/2011. They are: 1. To further develop the successful interaction between Professor Brennan and Professor Lopes Jr. 2. To carry out research in the area of energy harvesting and vibration control. 3. To complete some current work (preparation of journal papers) on structural health monitoring using Lamb waves and active vibration control. 4. To visit the Federal University of Uberlandia (with whom Professor Lopes has extensive collaboration), because there is significant activity in structural vibrations in this Institution and they have a joint national project on smart structures (project CNPq/INCT). 5. To visit UNICAMP to exchange ideas and interact with Professors Arruda and Cavalca. Professor Brennan already knows these professors very well, and there is a possibility of continuing the previous joint work with Professor Cavalca. (AU)
