Abstract

The collaboration between Prof. Aroca and Brazilian research groups is already consolidated and productive, with a number of papers in prestigious journals having been generated over the last few years and exchange of students and researchers. In this two-month visit to Brazil, Prof. Aroca will take part in scientific activities in the Grupo de Polímeros of USP-São Carlos, in the spectroscopic characterization of materials, especially Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) and layer-by-layer (LbL) films, using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). The main aim is to take advantage of the expertise of Prof. Aroca, particularly in the study of interaction between analytes and ultrathin films (in sensors, for example), and then further strength the scientific cooperation between Brazilian research groups and the group of Prof. Aroca in Windsor, Canada. As for the activities, we are planning an extensive collaboration with researchers from the Grupo de Polímeros, especially the students and post-docs, in addition to visits to other research groups in São Carlos, Presidente Prudente and São Paulo City. In Presidente Prudente, Prof. Aroca will be hosted for two weeks by Dr. Carlos Constantino and Dr. Aldo Job, from UNESP, both of whom did post-doc studies in Windsor, under the supervision of Prof. Aroca.
