Abstract

The objective of the visit is to develop research on soliton solutions, vortices and Hopfions, for the extended Skyrme-Faddeev model. The importance of such work is twofold: first we are interested in developing techniques for the study of non-perturbative aspects of field theories describing the fundamental interactions of Nature. Second that model is a candidate to describe the low energy limit of the SU(2) Yang-Mills theory without matter fields, and their soliton solutions play a crucial role in the structure of the theory in that regime.
