Abstract

This document outlines Dr. Daniel Hughes's work plan over his five-month visit, which is proposed to start from September/2009. Dr. Hughes finished his PhD at Lancaster University and used to be supervised by the same advisor of myself in the past. He specialized in the field of sensor networks and this included a four-month visit in the University of California at Berkeley. In addition, Dr. Hughes researched the use of sensors for flood prediction and this was a recipient of prizes and publications as evident in his CV. We aim to bring Dr. Hughes to contribute towards our work in sensor network parallelization (a recent FAPESP grant - Proc. 2008/05346-4). Also, we wish to explore his flood prediction and warning systems to minimize the problem with flood in the city of Sao Paulo. (AU)
