Abstract
Two years ago we had been in touch with prof. Kazuo Shiomi in order to start a collaborative project aiming at the characterization of new toxins from sea anemones of brazilian coast. In that way, at this moment we submit to FAPESP a research proposal to perform experiments and discuss results at our laboratory, in the IPEN Institute. Further, Dr. Shiomi has a conference scheduled to the next XVI International Congress of the International Society on Toxinology/X Congresso da Sociedade Brasileira de Toxinologia (SBTx) (www.istsbtx2009.com.br), to be held from 15th till 20th march 2009 at Pernambuco State. The talk is entitled as "Some novel peptide toxins in sea anemones". In the meantime, Dr. Shiomi will give lectures at IBUSP, Marine Biology Centre - USP (São Sebastião city) and Butantan Institute. We expect that the attendance of other researchers and graduate and undergraduate students may arise interest from different people who may be attracted by this interesting field of research. (AU)
