Exposure to ambient and occupational pollution in uterus and its repercussion on development of allergic lung inflammation in offspring: correlation with epigenetic mechanisms

Abstract

The ambient and occupational pollution has been object of study for many researchers due its serious implications on the public health. The Formaldehyde (FA) is a chemical agent widely used a lot of industries, laboratories of anatomy, pathology, histology, emitted for the fuel burning, and also it is expelled in the smoke of the cigarette, which is characterized by ambient and occupational pollutant. The FA is an irritating of the airways and inductor of asthma; still he has a potential carcinogenic effect. The morbity and the mortality of the asthma have been correlated with the exposition of individuals the ambient and occupational pollutants as the FA. In this context, my scientific studies have been focused in the harmful effect of FA on the pulmonary tissue. Data of literature has shown to the correlation of the exposition the atmosphere pollutants during the pregnancy as factor of risk for trigger of pulmonary disease in adult phase. On the basis of this observation and in my subject of research, the study of the association of the exposition to the FA during the gestation and the consequences of this for the inflammation development will be the subject of study of this project. Correlation with epigenetic mechanisms will be studied. Specifically, this project will investigate if the intrauterine FA exposure modulates parameters of immune response which are responsible of the innate and acquired inflammation in the young animais. Our studies will prioritize the analysis of cells recruited in the lung, blood and bone marrow, co-stimulators molecule expression CD40, CD80 and CD86 and MHC of classroom I, production of anaphylactic antibodies, release and gene expression of inflammatory and antiinflamatory cytokines, airways reactivity and DNA methylation status. Additionally, biomarkers of carcinogenicity, mutagenicity and oxidative stress will be quantified in maternal tissue, in the attempt to correlate them it and to characterize the poisoning intensity maternal. This project was conceived considering that the inquiry of the molecular mechanisms of the effect caused for the ambient and occupational poisoning is, today, a fact essential to explain the data unquestioned epidemiologists of the actual damages for the pollution to the health human being.
