Abstract

Our proposal is to continue the part of our research that focus synthetic chemistry, peptide synthesis, and was supported by FAPESP up to last November. Such research includes three ongoing studies and has the following goals: (i) speed-up and improvement of chemical solid-phase peptide synthesis, technology of choice small-scale production of such compound; (ii) establisment of alternative synthetic technologies that are cleaner, cheaper and/or more selective; (iii) increase of the knowledge about them. More specifically, we want to complement our previous data and investigations on: 1) positive and negative effects of conventional heating and microwaves on different steps of solid-phase peptide synthesis; 2) imobilization of proteases on superparamagnetic nanoparticles with the aim to improve their properties and use the immobilized enzymes as catalysts in peptide synthesis; 3) detachment of the peptide from resin through solvolysis mediated by divalent metal ions, procedure developed in our laboratory that can be used for the synthesis of C-terminal modified peptides.
