Adaptation and validation of quality indicators of reprocessing of articles in the basic care

Abstract

The infection control outside the hospital environment is a boundary in knowledge of the area and should be undertaken that aim to overcome this barrier. The quality of the reprocessing of products for health is one of the pillars of this practice, since infections may also be acquired as a result of its inadequate reprocessing. The evaluation systems of governance practices and prevention of infections related to health assistance have grown, and require the use of indicators, defined as measures of variables or attributes to identify desirable results or not of practice and establish. For the most part, these indicators are being developed for use in hospitals; however the development for use within the outside hospital attention is increasing. To ensure that the indicators are suitable for the implementation and evaluation of practices and procedures, only its construction is not enough, it is necessary that they are validated. This study aims, therefore, adapt and validate for use within the framework of basic care quality indicators in Sterilization and Material Center, produced by GRAZIANO et al (2009), being this the first instrument for this purpose prepared with this methodology, both in national and international literature. The instrument consists of eight indicators covering the steps of processing products for health and includes reviews of structure, process and outcome. Therefore, it is a methodological study of adaptation and validation among specialists, health assessment measures (quality indicators of reprocessing). The study will be conducted in two stages, being the first to adapt the instrument to use in the context of basic care, using the technique of the focus group and the second, for the validation of the contents of indicators, using the technique of content validation through consensus among experts.
