The Bioethics in the care of the nursing in spirituality, quality of life of cancer patients.

Abstract

Considering that cancer patients experience difficulties in coping with the situation of the disease, this in turn can be influenced by the degree of spiritual well-being. The study aims to clarify some questions: According to the intensity of the motive force of the cancer patient, there may be a greater commitment psychological / physical illness. The project justification is the need to discuss spirituality as an integral part of nursing care in patients with chronic degenerative disease, aiming at quality of life, from the perspective of bioethics to promote human dignity. Objectives: To assess the impact of spirituality in the coping process of illness and quality of life in patients with a diagnosis of cancer, from the perspective of bioethics. Conduct cross-cultural validation of the instrument of spirituality "Spiritual Assessment Scale." Correlate the score of spirituality with the score of quality of life of cancer patients in clinical care. Method and sample: The first stage of the research will be carried out with six "experts" in the area of spirituality and nursing, after validation with the "expert" will be applied in 12 patients with chronic degenerative disease, not cancer of the Hospital São Camilo Pompeii to test the scale of spirituality ("Spiritual Assessment Scale" - SAS-Spiritual Assessment Scale). After this step will be applied to adjusted scale and quality of life questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF) in 30 cancer patients in the hospital in question. Statistical analysis: Data will be analyzed in absolute values and as percentages and are presented in tables and graphs. The association between the subscales of personal faith, religious practice, spiritual peace obtained from answers categorized questionnaire will be evaluated from the Spermann correlation test and chi-square test (AU)
