Relationship between level of physical activity, cognition and motor function of the elderly in mild stage of Alzheimer's disease

Abstract

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by cognitive decline, motor and functional end to worsen with advancing disease, directly affecting the daily activities of elderly people with AD, who often fail to do their work, going to depend on more family caregivers and/or professionals. This study aims to evaluate the possible relationship between physical activity level, cognition and motor function of elderly people in the mild stage of Alzheimer's disease and elderly cognitive impairment. Participants will study 40 subjects with a clinical diagnosis of AD in mild stage, and 40 cognitively preserved elderly. To assess cognitive function will apply the Mini-Mental State Examination, score of Clinical Dementia Rating, Frontal Assessment Battery, Clock Drawing Test, Geriatric Depression Scale, and Corsi Blocks Peers Verbal Associates. To assess the level of physical activity will be applied to the Modified Baecke Questionnaire for Elderly and will use the pedometer for a total of 7 consecutive days. To analyze the processing time information will be used for an EEG examination attainment of the P300 wave. (AU)
