Heterocyclic systems are present in many substances that are biologically and pharmacologically active. Among the ten best-selling drugs in the world only one not present in its structure a heterocyclic system. Thus the development of new strategies for the synthesis of heterocycles has both academic and industrial importance. In this research project we propose the use of adducts of Morita-Baylis-Hillman as a substrate for the synthesis of heterocycles with new molecular arrangements. The reaction of Morita-Baylis-Hillman can be classified as a sustained chemical transformation. Thus, in addition to proposing a new strategy for the synthesis of heterocycles we will also use substrates that have low environmental impact. (AU)
