Abstract

Tendinitis is a common disorder of the musculoskeletal system and has various clinical manifestations. Although most tendons have the ability to spontaneously repair after injury, scar tissue is formed that can prevent the tendon to perform normal functions. Studies have been conducted using phototherapy in different areas of health, using both lasers and LEDs of low intensity. However, there is a small number of studies with the use of therapy with LEDs. This study will investigate the effect of phototherapy in the process of repairing the Achilles tendonitis in rats. Tendinitis is induced by trauma to the Achilles tendon of the animals. 112 will be used albino rats Wistar (240 ± 20g), divided into 14 groups and two different experimental periods. CONT group (control group), groups tend (groups tendinitis) on days 7 and 14 days, the LEDT (group therapy LED), from 1st to 7th day and the 1st to the 14th day) and group LEDT delay therapy (LED 7 to 14 days). Therapy will begin 12 hours after induction of tendinitis, using a dose of 7.5 J/cm2 at intervals of 48 to 48 hours. The therapy is applied transcutaneously on the injured area. The control group animals will be submitted to the simulation of the application with the power turned off. The euthanasia will occur at 7 and 14 days of the experiment. Histopathology will be performed for evaluation of neutrophils and collagen vascular permeability and also the inflammatory mediators will be quantified by RT-PCR. (AU)
