Preclinical pharmacokinetics of new drugs and pharmaceuticals forms

Abstract

The main factors that hinder the introduction of new drugs on the market have a direct or at least one pharmacokinetic correlated problem. An unfavourable pharmacokinetic profile as low bioavailability, limited volume of distribution or rapid metabolism can determine inefficacy or relevant toxicity. Preclinical pharmacokinetic studies plays a important role predicting the construction of dosing regimens for clinical studies and and have a close relation to pharmacodynamics and toxicodynamics. Thus, these studies are fundamental to the assessment of new drugs prior to their application in clinical trials. In Brazil, there are many research groups focused on new molecules synthesys, characterization and investigation of its therapeutical uses. However, in our contry, preclinical pharmacokinetic researches - essential for future clinical trials - are relatively recent. In this project, we present a proposal to require laboratory equipment and consumables for these pharmacokinetic studies, which includes three subproducts developed by a FCF/UNESP group - a prodrug candidate with anti-inflammatory properties (DICCIC), a potential antichagasic prodrug and a microemulsion system containig doxorubicin.
