Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate patients undergoing selective lymphadenectomy (sentinel lymph node biopsy) for melanoma, through opto-electronics volumetry and bioimpedance and check the rate of lymphedema in both methods. Patients and methods: 200 patients will be evaluated for axillary or inguinal selective lymphadenectomy for cutaneous melanoma from 1999 to 2010. The patients enrolled will undergo an evaluation which consisted of measurement of limb volume by perimetry, opto-electronics volumetry and bioimpedance. It will be considered symptoms of weight, swelling and numbness in the limbs. Outcomes: obtaining data that it could show the incidence of morbidity and risk factors for lymphedema after surgical treatment of axillary or inguinal dissection in patients with cutaneous melanoma. Check the diagnosis of patients with lymphedema already installed or with complaints of swelling or heaviness in the limb ipsilateral lymphadenectomy. (AU)
