Abstract
Astrometry is a fundamental field of research in Astronomy, being the base for almost all other areas in this science. On the last few years our group has undertaken the effort to modernize and direct the researches in Astronometry at IAG/USP, for the study of targets of special interest through precise astrometric catalogues (i.e. PM2000, Hipparcos) and by observations made with the Meridian Circles of the Observatório Abrahão de Moraes (IAG/USP, Valinhos - SP) and Bordeaux, as well as using ESO telescopes, specially the 2.2m and NTT. In addition, our group has also been dedicating significant efforts for state-of-the-art projects, as on the preparation of astrometric space missions of very high precision and reach, such as Gaia and NEAT.In this Regular Project, we intend to acquire mainly informatics equipment, air trips and lodgings, to enable the continuity and enhancement of our current works, as well as to reinforce past and future collaborations. The project will also benefit the Observatório Abrahão de Moraes as a whole, both on its scientific activities, for instance, by supporting the recently installed Astrobiology Laboratory - AstroLab, and on its activities of outreach and education in Astronomy and Science.
