Development and application of carbon and nanoparticles base electrodes for the determination of species of interest in different matrices

Abstract

The development of several carbon-based electrodes for amperometric and voltammetric determination of analytes in food, environmental, biological, and pharmaceutical samples is proposed in this project. Glassy carbon, boron-doped diamond, and amorphous carbon nitride electrodes, with or without modification with carbon nanotubes and/or metal nanoparticles (e.g. gold, ruthenium, and bismuth) will be studied. Moreover, electrochemical modification of those electrodes will be investigated and several voltammetric techniques such as CV, DPV, SWV, and multiple pulse amperometry in a flow injection system will be applied for the development of the analytical procedures. Once the electrodes that presented better responses to the analytes are selected, the linear response range, detection limits and quantification, sensitivity, influence of the presence of potential interferents, and lifetime of these electrodes will be investigated.
