Bioactive compounds from medicinal and food plants of the cerrado and Pantanal and their endophytic microbiota

Abstract

This project intends to realizes comparative chemistry studies of native medicinal and food species from Cerrado and Pantanal Biomes and their endophytic microbiota. The phytochemistry researches will be bioassay-guided by the antimicrobial and schistosomicidal in vitro assays. The antimicrobial activity will be evaluated by diffusion and broth microdilution methods employing different ATCC strains. The schistosomicidal test will be held evaluating the life cycle of Schistosoma mansoni vector. The analytical methodologies will employ chromatography techniques (CC, PTLC, GC-MS, HPLC-DAD). The chemical structures of the isolated compounds will the assign on the bases of 1D and 2D NMR experiments. Additionally, the quantitative chemical study of crude extracts from seedlings obtained in vitro will be done in comparison with native matrices plants crude extracts by HPLC-DAD. Thus, the main goal of this proposal will be identify potential antimicrobial, and schistossomicidal natural compounds, as well as contribute to the ongoing natural products research in the GPNUF laboratory (UNIFRAN) to the human resource formation in various areas of knowledge covered in this multidisciplinary proposal, and to the consolidation of the Post-Graduations Programs involved.
