Professional development for educators to be inserted in mathematical processes of education statistics mediated by technology

This project aims to investigate how teachers acquire professional knowledge about the processes of teaching and learning of Mathematics and Statistics at the different levels of education. This is an investigation into the professional development of teachers of Basic Education and Higher Education and on the development and implementation of Information and Communication Technology for the teaching and learning of Mathematics and Statistics. It is seeked to answer the following questions: How do mathematics educators from different school levels broaden their professional knowledge in mathematics and statistics when entering into a professional development process mediated by information technology and communication? In what extent can the use of a virtual learning environment contribute to the professional development of educators? What are the contributions of learning objects in Mathematics and Statistics for the preparation of teaching activities? To answer these questions it was chosen the qualitative methodology, in order to approach the perspective of participants. From the data constructed, it is intended to perform an analysis of emerging categories, emphasizing more the process than the product over the two years of the project, since it seeks to portray the perspective of the participants in the appropriation and mobilization of mathematical and statistical knowledge. This research will provide relevant information on the professional knowledge of teachers working in preschool, kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, high school and university. (AU)
