Influence of planet formation in the chemical composition of solar type stars

Abstract

This project intends (i) to determine chemical abundances at high precision of both refractory and volatile elements in solar twins as signatures of terrestrial planet formation, in order to better understand the formation of planetary systems like our own; (ii) to determine lithium abundances to study its relation to the presence of giant planets, secular depletion or episodic accretion in the final stages of star formation; (iii) to study both metal-poor and metal-rich solar analogs to understand the influence of metallicity on planet formation; (iv) to determine whether giant stars with planets are metal-rich (or not) to get clues on the metallicity enhancement of stars with planets; (v) to study in detail the physical properties of solar twins using diverse techniques (interferometry, asteroseismology, astrometry, photometry) to verify the results obtained from purely spectroscopic techniques; (vi) to determine atmospheric parameters of a large sample of stars to improve the temperature scale of F-G-K stars.
