Physical, chemical, mechanical and biological properties evaluation of MTA and Portland cement associated with micro and nanoparticulate radiopacifiers


The Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) is composed of Portland cement (PC) and radiopacifiers. The aim of this study is to evaluate the association of CP on zirconium oxide (OZ) and niobium oxide (iNO) in micro and nanoparticle formulation of retrograde materials and root canal sealers. Sub-project 1: It will be evaluate the resistance to compression (n = 6), setting time (n = 6), pH and calcium release (n = 10), flow (n = 10), superficial area (n = 10) and radiopacity (n = 6) of different formulations: a) CP, 2) MTA Angelus, 3) CP +30% OZ microparticulate, 4) +30% OZ nanosized CP, 5) +30% CP iNO microparticulate, 6) CP +30% nanoparticulate iNO. Sub-project 2: It will be evaluate setting time, resistance to compression, flow, film thickness, radiopacity, solubility, pH and the release of Ca++ cements MTA Fillapex, Sealapex, AH Plus, and two formulations experimental cement-based MTA with different radiopacifiers (zirconium oxide and niobium oxide as micro and nano particulate). Sub-project 3: All materials based on MTA evaluated for physico-chemical and mechanical in this study will be assessed in cell culture for toxicity and potential bioactive, as a part of the protocol for its use in humans. The tests will be conducted initially in fibroblasts from mice lineage MPDL and rat osteosarcoma cells (line ROS 17/2.8). Data will be analyzed statistically by the test of ANOVA and Tukey test with significance level of 5%. (AU)
