Abstract

The work has the objective to monitor the response of Copaiba for variation in water availability in the Brazilian Savanna and to relate these adjustments with secondary metabolism. The dry and rainy season will be monitored to determine the water status of Copaifera langsdorffii together with the chemical profile of essential oil and organic extracts. Will be evaluated for both chemical profiles, of the volatile oil composed mainly of mono and sesquiterpenes, and chemical profiles of organic extracts of medium and high polarity consisting mainly of phenylpropanoids. Techniques of gas and liquid chromatography will be used to extract and isolate extracts, fractions and active substances. These samples will be tested on the germination and seedling growth in order to verify the allelopathic activity of the various products of secondary metabolism in different environmental conditions of high and low water availability.
