Comparative analysis of the stability of the joint bolted in zirconia abutments over implants after cyclic loading

Abstract

Among the biomechanics complications related with the prosthesis over implant, the stability of the joint bolted, region of the interface between implant/abutment/screw, and whose function is hold the prosthesis on implants united. It has been investigated due to the frequent complications, as the constant loosening and breakings of the abutment screws. Although there are studies that investigate the joint bolted composed of metal components, more common in the manufacture of prostheses on implants, there are few studies that analyze this region when composed of ceramic components. Currently, due to the need for a better aesthetic result, especially when it comes to the replacement of anterior teeth, the use of such components has become a requirement. Abutments made of zirconium oxide have been suggested as promising in this sense, due to the excellent properties of this material. Thus, the aim of this study is comparatively assess the stability of the joint bolted between retaining screws made of different materials in zirconia abutments. For that, fifty external hex (3.75 x 13 mm) implants will be included in resin blocks. Fifty zirconia abutments randomly divided into five experimental groups: G1- Abutments UCLA Neodent with titanium alloy screw, G2- Abutments UCLA Neodent with titanium alloy screw Neotorque, G3 - Abutments UCLA Neodent with titanium alloy screw lubrificated with vaseline, G4 - Abutments CERA PREP with titanium alloy screw and G5 - Abutments CERA PREP with titanium alloy screw lubricated with vaseline will be positioned on their respective implants and screwed with a torque of 20 Ncm. After cyclic loading, the stability of the joint bolted will be investigated by the values of destorque. The results will be analyzed statistically for subsequent interpretation. (AU)
