Abstract

In women, decline estrogen function characterizes biological aging process, prevailing in the third decade of climacteric period (between 56 and 65 years old) symptoms of osteoporosis. Sharing common factors related to disease etiology, such as age and smoking, osteoporosis and periodontal disease can be more closely related because the pathological loss of bone tissue. The loss of bone mass overload could reflect at the beginning and in the course of disease progression periodontal and therefore influence clinical parameters changes after periodontal treatment. This study aims to assess, longitudinally, clinical parameters, radiographic and microbiological testing of women with periodontal disease, diagnosed or not for osteoporosis. It Will be selected 40 women with periodontitis, non-smokers and non-diabetic and with no periodontal treatment and/or antibioticstherapy in less than three months, divided into two groups: group1-with osteoporosis and group 2-without osteoporosis. All receive periodontal treatment and will be revalued at 1, 3, 6, and 1 year after treatment. (AU)
