Abstract

Microbial transformation of secondary metabolites is an emerging technique in Brazil and presents high potential to obtain biotransformed compounds with possibilities to promote structural modifications at "inactive" carbon atom, which normally can't be modified by usual organic reactions, which can present enhanced biological activities. The aim of this work is realize microbial transformations and late antiinflammatory evaluation of diterpene kaurenoic acid and its derivatives against LPS-induced bronchopulmonary hyperreactivity. Isolation and purification of biotransformed diterpenes will be carried out throught chromatographic methods and structural elucidation by spectroscopic methods. Antiinflammatory activity of Kaurenoic acid under bronchopulmonary hyperreactivity is been propose, based on significant inhibitory potential of this metabolites against several chemical and enzymatic mediators involved on inflammatory processes, such as: NF-KB and TNF-a, Myeloperoxidase, Prostaglandin E2, Cyclooxygenase-2 and Nitric Oxide Synthase, this last one, the most important enzyme on acute inflammation and essential to pulmonary biology.
