Abstract

The region of the Marília's city is a major watermelon producing areas of State of São Paulo. Most of time the crop is grown in the retirement pasture, being the soil till carried out in a conventional tillage with grade of the surface profile, resulting in environmental impacts due to exposure to erosion. This project aims to study methods of soil till for grown of the watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) in the restoration of pasture using prior cultivation of cover crops, oats (Avena strigosa) and lupine (Lupinus albus). The experiment will be carried out in the Oriente - SP city, in an Oxisol dystrophic. The experiment will be a complete randomized block design with factorial structure with four replications, being the main treatment two methods of tillage, minimum tillage with only subsoiling and no till, and the secondary treatments, two cover crops, oat and lupine white background to the grown of watermelon. As control, will be the grown of watermelon with conventional tillage done with plowing and harrowing. Will be study the chemical and physical characteristics of the soil in the presence of the treatments, production of dry mass of shoots and nutrient content of cover crops; productivity, root growth and nutritional status of watermelon and grassland that will be installed after the grown of watermelon. The data will be statistically analyzed with SAS software, performing analysis of variance and comparison of means by Tukey test. The results shall be in form of abstracts for presentation to congress and articles for publication in scientific journals. (AU)
