NEPSY (NEPSY: Korkman, Kirk, & Kemp, 1998) is a battery of 27 neuropsychological tests that assess 5 cognitive dominions: Attention/Executive Function, Language, Sensor-motor Function, Visual-spatial Processing, and Learning and Memory. Designed to assess children from 3 to 12 years of age with developmental or acquired neuropsychiatric disorders. This study project aims to translate, adapt, establish norms, standardize and validate the neuropsychological instrument NEPSY for the Brazilian population. The investigation will be cross-section in its design. Methodology: the 1st phase was carried-out in a previous assay: translation, adaptation and testing of the NEPSY instrument; the 2nd phase will be carried-out in this assay: national validation. The standardization sample will be representative of the Brazilian population of children from 3 to 12 years of age, stratified by age, gender, race, geographical region and education level of the caregiver. 1000 children will be selected randomly in Brazilian schools, 100 for each age group between 3 and 12 years, 50 for each gender, being 500 in the city of Salvador and 500 in São Paulo. The psychometric properties to be assessed will be: item analysis (parameters of difficulty, discrimination and correlation, and number of studies and items), standardization (construction of tables by age group and gender). The 3rd phase will be carried-out in a future study: validity (of content, construct and criterion), precision (equivalence, stability and internal consistency) and factorial analysis, as well as TRI to generate scores for those assessed and judge the quality of the items; psychometric quality.
