This project seeks to extend the research line of Producing and Processing of Aluminum Alloys by Thixoforming, improving the characterization techniques of these materials, through the acquisition of a system for carrying out chemical analysis of these alloys produced, via optical emission spectroscopy, and also improving the thixoforming processing, i.e., the processing in the semi-solid state, through the acquisition of a hydraulic-pneumatic 13ton press. It will be characterized and tested, Al-Si-Mg, Al-Si-Cu-Mg, Al-Si-Zn, Al-Si-Zn-Mg, Al-Si-Cu-Zn-Mg alloy systems, alloys unusual for thixoforming. The comparison of morphology and viscous behaviour of these materials with the materials originally used to thixoforming operations, namely, mainly the A356 and A357 alloys, will be determined the potential for application. This is a complementary project to Fapesp 2008/03946-4, currently under implementation, that results in: the construction of a continuous casting system under electromagnetic stirring for the production of alloys and, the acquisition of an inductive heating system, used to heat these materials up to the thixoforming temperature process. In this case that project is being implemented with the aid of an eccentric press loaned by the Technical College of UNICAMP. The aim is to gradually structure and consolidate the area of thixoforming research. (AU)
