Tumescence anesthesia with lidocaine or ropivacaine in different concentrations in dogs subjected to surgery of mastectomy


The infiltration by tumescence anesthesia is a technique of local anesthesia that has been highlighted in surgeries of dogs subjected to mastectomy procedures for promoting trans analgesia and post-operative, providing benefits to the animal as the decline in consumption of volatile anesthetic during the procedure and a recovery of better quality. The aim of this study is to evaluate the applicability of ropivacaine, a local anesthetic with greater selectivity for sensory fibers, compared with the lidocaine, and standardize the anesthetic solution through the serum measurement of local anesthetics, relating to mergers and the recovery period postoperative analgesia. Thirty dogs will be used, distributed in three groups with ten animals each. Animals of all groups will be submitted to the same protocol of general anesthesia among them as follows: Group GL (by tumescence anesthesia with lidocaine solution of 0.32%), group GR1 (by tumescence anesthesia with ropivacaine solution of the 0, 1%) and group GR05 (by tumescence anesthesia with ropivacaine 0.05% solution). All groups will receive a volume of tumescence solution of 15 mL / kg. In each animal, blood samples will be collected for assessment of blood gas parameters, determination of cortisol and determination of serum concentration of local anesthetic used. The post operative analgesia will be evaluated through visual scale and through the response to stimulation by von Frey filaments. Will be used the following statistical tests, considering P <0.05: Tukey (quantitative variables), Kruskal-Wallis or Friedman, followed by the Dunn test (qualitative variables) and Fisher's exact test (for the evaluation of Von Frey).
