Abstract

In 2005, we began a study to assess the evolution of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 2 (CIN 2) confirmed by biopsy. This study is a cohort comprising 45 women who have completed the follow-up that was controlled until 12 months. The objective will be to identify markers related to HPV infection (specific types, variants, viral load and integration) and related to cell proliferation (expression of p16, hK7 SOD2 proteins) that could be predictive of disease progression or regression. The women object of this study had screening cytology suggestive of atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASC-US) or low grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL) and biopsy proven CIN 2. The sample size was calculated in 45 women, based on alpha error of 0.05 and beta of 0.20. The analysis will be performed using chi-square and p-value to test the associations between the variables and odds ratios (OR) with their respective 95% confidence intervals (95%CI) to estimate the magnitude of association.
