Abstract

The subinertial dynamics over the Sao Paulo Continental Shelf (SPCS) is well influenced by the wind forcing, associated with cold front systems and the South Atlantic High Pressure Center. A portion of its variability can be understood in terms of the local wind forcing only. However, due to the cold front system tracks, the remote forcing is likely to play an important role in the subinertial dynamics over the region, probably associated with continental shelf waves propagating equatorwards. This project aims to understand how the remote forcing can influence the water motion over the SPCS. In order to achieve that we will make use of numerical modelling and data analysis. (AU)
