Abstract

The present study aims to evaluate the photostability of Acetazolamide and loratadine before and after the complexation with cyclodextrins. The drugs will be submitted to photostability assay both in solution (using water, HCl 0,1N and phosphate buffer pH 6,8) and in solid state (with different particle sizes). The HPLC methodology will be developed and validated (linearity, precision, specificity and accuracy) for each substance allowing an evaluation and quantification of its degradation products (photodegradation products). Also the medicines available in the Brazilian market will be evaluated in order to verify the presence of degradation residues. The characterization and photostability assays of the cyclodextrin/drug (binary) and cyclodextrin/polymer/drug (ternary) complexes will allow an evaluation of the cyclodextrins photoprotection capacity over acetazolamide and loratadine.
