Abstract

Boron is used in leaf spray in several areas and for the most several soil conditions, environment and crops in Brazil. It is verified; however, the supply of B through leaf still presents different results. It was just recently demonstrated that the boron exhibits fast and significant mobility in the phloem of some species that produce poliois. The poliois as the sugars alcohols sorbitol, dulcitol and manitol have capacity to complex B giving to that element some mobility inside of the plant. It is verified that in practice, except in the cases in that it is recommended, many producers partly motivated by the media and great offer of existent products in the market, they use the leaf application to supply B to the plants. That procedure has been contributing to the unsatisfactory results with relationship to the leaf application of B and that points out the importance of knowing the more appropriate method to supply fruit plant with boron. This research has the objective to verify the mobility of boron applied via leaf in plants that produce sorbitol. (AU)
