Development of versatile supramolecular polymeric systems for controlled release of antitumoral agents

Abstract

The proposed topic is inserted in the "Colloids and Interfaces" research area. The main objectives are focused on the preparation of nanostructured supramolecular polymeric systems and their use in the nanomedicine field. The investigations will be fundamentally divided in three steps: 1) Preparation and evaluation of the structure and dynamics of versatile micellar systems (mixed corona micelles) in different environmental conditions; 2) Evaluation of their potential as drug carrier and controlled release of therapeutical agents; 3) Investigations related to the interaction of the self-organized polymeric systems with biological fluids (proteins). The proposed subject will lead to an in-depth understanding on the preparation of the nanostructured entities based on block copolymer materials, and will guide to the development of manpower with multi and interdisciplinary knowledge enabled to teach and to lead projects in the main area of "Colloids and Interfaces". To the end, they will have a solid scientific knowledge in scattering methods (mainly light scattering). (AU)
