Influence of two different anesthetics protocols on the hematocrit of equines submitted to artthroscopic surgery

Abstract

The aim of this work is to evaluate respiratory, cardiovascular and hematocrit alterations in horses submitted to two different anesthetic protocols. This evaluation shall be made in different moments before and after anesthesia.Animals will be assigned into two groups of 10 male or female horses submitted to arthroscopic surgery. Group I anesthetic protocol will include 0,8 mg/kg intravenous (IV)xilazine, 0,1 IV mg/kg midazolam, 2mg/kg ketamine and 100 mg/kg guaiafenesin(10%). Both groups anesthetic mantenaince will be made with isofluorane(1,4% MAC)in 100% oxygen. Parameters evaluated will include: heart rate, respiratory frequency, arterial blood pressure, oxygen arterial saturation, inspired and expired anesthetic, urinary output and hematocrit. (AU)
