Bovine leptin radioimmunoassay using monoclonal antibodies

Abstract

This is a multidisciplinary research which aims to evaluate the leptin concentration in pre-pubertal Nellore heifers from 8 to 16 months of age and to compare serum leptin among precocious and non-precocious Nellore heifers. Considering pregnancy at 16 months of age, leptin will be quantified by RIA with monoclonal antibody. Pregnancy at 16 months is a desirable feature by which heifer will give birth at 24 months, increasing production. (AU)
