Homocysteine and nutritional status in hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patientes

Abstract

Homocysteine presents a direct association with cardiovascular diseases and, in dialysis patients, may show an inverse relation; low levels of homocysteine may predict clinical complications and higher cardiovascular risks. To clarify relations between homocysteine, cardiovascular risk and inflamatory state in different nutritional status could help to understand and establish clinical and nutritional markers to this particular group.
