InfoVis2: a repository of visual mining and information visualization and sonification techniques

Abstract

Visual support for data interpretation is a very promising research areas in computing due to the large demand generated by the dimensionality and volume of data sets and the current maturity stage of the subject of graphical mappings to help data interpretation. Building on previous results of a first InfoVis Project and also of the post-doctorate work of the two main researchers of this project, this research plan proposes to develop a repository of data visualization, sonification and visual mining techniques that will make available a number of techniques aimed at supporting the analysis of complex data. These techniques will be created as a result of extensions and concept application of results obtained in recent research of the team members. Also planned are the adaptation of such repository to a Peer-to-Peer Web Services architecture and the adaptation for use and test of the techniques developed and extended in various areas of applications.
