Abstract
While continuing the organization, restoration and analysis of the documents of the ECA/USP Miroel Silveira Archive - formed by 6.137 processes of theater plays liberation for public presentation that belonged the Departamento de Diversões Públicas de São Paulo - this project proposes the study of the São Paulo cultural production. Using the data base that is being fed with information on actors, titles of plays, theater companies and other related information, it is intended, with the support of consulting other archives and interviews, to build the scenery of the inauguration of a cosmopolitan and modernist culture in São Paulo, with a popular and hybrid origin, which was also the basis of the development of cinema, radio and television. It is also proposed, the study of the influence of amateur theater groups ¬of immigrant, working class or student origin - in the creation of a politically involved dramaturgy that would arise in São Paulo. Besides that, it will be continued a deep study on the censorship and its influence in that process. (AU)
