Exploitation of novel materials and different reaction media for sensitivy/selectivity enhancement in the analyses of biological and environmental samples

Abstract

The feasibility of exploiting different reaction media and/or novel materials will be investigated in order to developed analytical procedures with enhancement characteristics of sensitivity and selectivity for the analysis of biological and environmental samples such as pharmaceuticals, natural waters, foodstuffs, agro-industrial residues and biological fluids. Atomic absorption spectrometry, UV-Vis spectrophotometry and fluorimetry, as well as electroanalytical techniques will be employed. (Bio)sensors envolving novel materials, strategies for separation and/or concentration involving vermicompounds, humic acid and similar, and micelar mediaachieved through degradable surfactantes will be developed. The planned research aims the availability of advanced analytical procedures emphasizing the concept of Green Chemistry and presenting superior characteristics of selectivity, sensitivity, portability, cost and feasibility to miniaturization and automation.
