Design process in architecture: from theory to technology

The present research project has as it main objective the study of the design in Architecture, in its diverse aspects. Starting on the one hand with an in-depth theoretic study of this process, and on the other with research into the technologies of design evaluation, representation and automation, it is intended to propose new methods and develop tools which assist in the work of the architect, guaranteeing a continual feed of the design process. It is hoped with this to support the design process and contribute to the improvement in architectural design and, consequently, in the quality of the constructed environment. The project will have two main lines of research: a theoretical-conceptual line, which aims to understand the design process in its cognitive aspects, in addition to researching techniques and methods that support it, and another applied line, in which it is intended to develop and apply tools which assist the design process, improving the quality of its product.
